Date: Tuesday, Jan 29 2019
Time: 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Location: Non Profit Village
Address: 31 West 31st Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64108
Come out and eat, drink, network and talk about all things State of the Union. We'll play games, eat, drink and share tips on how you can take action here in Kansas City. If the SOTU is cancelled, we will have our own SOTU with local leaders across issues.
Bring a friend, BYOB (but we'll have a lil something on deck) and get ready for a good time!
WHY WATCH THE SOTU: We are facing challenging political times. Hostile leadership and constantly shifting policies have had an adverse impact on all Americans, especially Black people. While some Americans can turn a blind eye to our current state of affairs, Black people must be diligent, aware, and ready to advocate.
BUT I DONT WANT TO WATCH 45: Neither do we. But the State of the Union address is one way to be informed on what’s to come from government so we know how to advocate.
I AM TIRED OF GET TOGETHERS. ARE WE GOING TO TAKE ACTION?: Yes. Every Shirley's KC event has an action ask. At this event, we will discuss opportunites for direct action.
CAN MEN ATTEND: Yes. Bring a friend with you. And something to drink...
WHERE IS THE NONPROFIT VILLAGE: Between 31st & Main and 31st & Broadway. Behind the Bank of America on Main.
