This initial conversation provides participants an opportunity to be build a shared, common language to discuss individual identities and address anti-oppression and racial bias in the workplace, specifically in the non-profit sector supporting clients with competing needs. Staff will discuss common ways white supremacist culture plays out in nonprofit agencies, between staff and clients, and dive into a discussion about racism and white fragility in the workplace. This conversation will teach an introductory lesson on the matrix of oppression, common racial biases and will explore ways white people can shift their personal actions from being actors to accomplices in the movement for diversity, inclusion and racial equity. Participants will process in large and small groups, engage in role play scenarios, learn from applicable tools.
