This year, AIDS WALK Kansas City’s theme highlights the global U=U campaign. U=U stands for “Undetectable equals Untransmittable.” Groundbreaking activist, Bruce Richman’s U=U campaign, is changing public perception about HIV, while encouraging more people to be tested and to get treatment. U=U shares stigma-shattering evidence that proves people living with HIV whose viral loads are reduced to an undetectable level cannot sexually transmit HIV.

Kansas City surpasses national trends for its rate of suppressing viral loads - 74% locally v. 35% nationally. This is a direct result of AIDS WALK Kansas City fundraising over the past 30 years, as local support stays in Kansas City to help fund four AIDS Service Organizations. These organizations diagnose, treat and provide holistic support for those living with HIV/AIDS. Kansas City’s record is testimony to the U=U campaign promise that “Undetectable equals Untransmittable” and shows how continued local support will help KC area residents live full, productive lives.

We hope you will join us on WALK Day April 27th as we walk in support of these life-changing breakthroughs and reaffirm our goal of an HIV-Free Kansas City!
